As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking - Card Account Management team, you will be a key member of an agile team, tasked with designing and delivering innovative, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. Your role involves implementing essential technology solutions across diverse technical domains, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm's strategic goals.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
  • Experience in developing and maintaining applications using COBOL, DB2, CICS,IMS DC/DB ensuring robust and efficient mainframe solutions, and follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure structured and efficient software development processes.
  • Develop and manage CICS (Customer Information Control System) applications for transaction processing in mainframe environments .
  • Knowledge on IMS (Information Management System) for hierarchical database management and transaction processing in mainframe environments.
  • Design and optimize databases using DB2, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Deep knowledge on  Schedule and monitor batch jobs using CA7, ensuring timely and efficient execution of critical business processes
  • Hands on with VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) for efficient data storage and retrieval in mainframe environments.
  • Experience with Change Man/Endeavor for version control and change management, supporting efficient deployment .
  • Utilize REXX for scripting and automation, enhancing productivity and efficiency in mainframe operations.
  • Implement ZOS Connect API for integrating mainframe applications with modern web and mobile applications.
  • Manage source code and version control using GIT, facilitating collaborative development and code management.
