Senior Manager of Software Engineering

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Home Lending team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Contributes to the engineering of application infrastructure that can be deployed seamlessly on AWS or private cloud, ensuring portability, scalability, and reliability, and cost efficiency across multi-cloud platforms
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus and actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software  Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation, and support CI/CD pipeline integration with automating deployment processes for multi-cloud environments
  • Resolve, deploy and manage containerized applications using ECS, supporting both AWS and private cloud environments with application infrastructures and feature issues, including root cause analysis remediation
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, and/or equivalent tools, adaptable to multiple cloud platforms
  • Follow best practices for cloud, container, and application security, data protection, and compliance with internal and external
  • Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems while working closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, flexible cloud solutions and application features

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training and certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming languages and frameworks (i.e., Java, Terraform, Containers, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing Microservices and RESTful APIs
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect 
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar certification
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration strategies
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, etc.)
  • Exposure to financial services or other highly regulated industries
