Role Summary

The Manager, Leave Accommodations and Disability (LAD) is responsible for executing on the strategy for absence management programs at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As a people leader, the Manager of Absence Management leads and establishes priorities for the team to manage leave, disability and workplace accommodation programs including vendor management, data analysis, employee advocacy, quality assurance and compliance.

Key Duties

  • Develops, implements and maintains leave and disability-related programs, policies, procedures, and training, in compliance with multiple federal and state regulations, company policies, and contractual requirements.

  • Consults and helps resolve complex issues related to leave and workers’ compensation programs, collective-bargaining requirements, federal and state regulations, and/or company policies.

  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders including executives, division leaders, union leaders inside and outside legal counsel, Government organizations, and industry leaders.

  • Develops and monitors scorecards and dashboards to ensure efficient vendor management, program performance, leave statistics, and associated costs.

  • Manages relationship with vendor partners and monitors performance to ensure the highest level of service is provided to our employees.

  • Partners with other internal stakeholders and consultants to choose vendor partners and to conduct renewals with insurance companies, third-party administrators, and other service providers.

  • Oversees quality assurance audits, including vendor and business location audits, and maintains related compliance and process documentation.

  • Hires, supervises and develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in absence management, leave, human resources, ADA accommodations, or related area.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complicated matters to all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to build a high-performing team of leave specialists.
  • A proven ability to partner with and manage vendor relationships.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations related to leave and disability programs.
  • Strong financial and budgeting skills.

Salary Range

$117,850 - $176,800 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
