Job Summary:
In the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, we research and teach how the collective behavior of molecules and cells forms the basis of life. We are driven by a passion for discovery and value collaborative approaches to scientific inquiry, where connections between people fuel interdisciplinary science and break boundaries across varied experimental systems. Against a backdrop of cutting-edge biological research, we work as a team of educators and mentors to inspire and train the next generation of scientists and global citizens. The Prigozhin Lab at Harvard University develops new biophysical methods for multicolor and dynamic biological imaging at the molecular scale. Our work focuses on capturing cellular dynamics by cryo-vitrifying samples after defined time delays following stimulation, using custom cryo-plunging and high-pressure freezing instruments. In parallel, we are working to achieve multicolor electron imaging via cathodoluminescence—electron-beam–induced optical emission. We apply these methods to study G-protein–coupled receptor signaling, visualize biomolecular condensate formation, and map complex multicellular assemblies such as bacterial biofilms, organoids, and tissues.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:
We invite applications for a full-time Research Assistant I position. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive technical support and conduct experimental work for projects aimed at developing and applying high-resolution biological imaging methods. The position offers an opportunity to gain broad experience at the interface of cell biology, chemistry, and engineering, and the Research Assistant will perform experiments with increasing independence under the guidance and mentorship of the principal investigator and senior lab members. Responsibilities will span several areas depending on the candidate’s background and interests.
