THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

As a Single Family – Risk Management - Senior Manager you will play a critical leadership role in helping Fannie Mae identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks that could impact the company’s reputation, safety, security, operational effectiveness, and financial performance. You will partner closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the enterprise to develop and implement strategic risk management frameworks, evaluate emerging risks, and drive informed business decision-making.

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for identifying potential risk exposures, evaluating business impacts, and supporting enterprise-wide risk management efforts in a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring business areas that may pose risk to the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement risk management strategies, frameworks, processes, and controls.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging risks and assess their potential impact on business operations, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and organizational objectives.
  • Direct team efforts to analyze, monitor, and report risk-related information using data-driven and analytical approaches.
  • Partner with business leaders and key stakeholders across the enterprise to understand business objectives and ensure risks are appropriately identified and managed.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of risk reporting, presentations, and recommendations for leadership and governance forums.
  • Manage the documentation of risk assessments, issue resolutions, mitigation plans, and control guidelines.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support implementation of updates to risk management methodologies, controls, and reporting practices.
  • Guide business strategy discussions by providing risk perspectives that support informed decision-making in response to changing market conditions, consumer behaviors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Minimum Required Experience

  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Risk Management, Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Financial Services, or a related field.
  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

 

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of Experience leading teams and developing talent in a risk management or financial services environment.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating complex business risks and developing practical mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent Executive Communication, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks, governance practices, and regulatory expectations within a highly regulated industry.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
