Job Summary

Wentworth Health Partners Coastal Neurology Services has been providing adults and children with comprehensive and trusted care since 1983. Our board-certified physicians specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and management of an array of neurological disorders, including headaches, epilepsy, autism, ADHD, neuromuscular disease, neuropathy, sleep disorders, small-fiber polyneuropathy, stroke and more. Our Neurology practices are located at 10 Members Way in Dover, NH, and 73 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH.

We are seeking a 40-hour Psychometric Technician to join our Neurology team. Our practice is open Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM.

Our practice is comprised of three Neuropsychologists and a highly experienced Neuropsychology Technician who will provide guidance and support throughout your onboarding and training. This position is based fully onsite at our Dover location at 10 Members Way and offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced, supportive team in a specialized outpatient setting.

In this role, you will work closely with Neuropsychologists to support comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for patients experiencing memory concerns, Alzheimer's disease, cognitive impairment, and other neurological or cognitive conditions. Following the Neuropsychologist's initial clinical evaluation, you will administer standardized neuropsychological assessments according to established testing protocols. Testing sessions can typically last 3 to 4 hours and include paper-based and/or computerized assessments. You will score and organize test results for the Neuropsychologist's review, while the provider is responsible for interpreting the findings, integrating them into the clinical evaluation, and completing the final report.

Provider schedules vary throughout the week, with some days dedicated to patient testing and others focused on report writing and clinical documentation. A full testing day generally consists of up to two patients, allowing for thorough, individualized assessments. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in provider-led educational meetings and collaborate with an experienced team while building your knowledge of neuropsychological assessment and cognitive testing.

Working under the supervision of the Neuropsychologist, the Psychometric Technician will assist in administering a wide range of standardized neuropsychological tests to patients with a diverse range of acquired or developmental neurocognitive disorders. This position assists in the cognitive evaluation of patients by administering, scoring and reporting the results of standardized tests of mental ability, as well as recording behavioral observations of patients during testing.

Essential Functions:
-Administer standardized neuropsychological tests that assess cognitive and behavioral functioning (including intelligence, attention/executive functions, memory, language, visuospatial/quantitative abilities, mood, and personality) to patients.
-Observe patients during and after testing, record behavioral observations and report to psychologist any information that may affect the validity of test results.
-Accurately score all tests per standardized methods. Maintain an up-to-date and thorough knowledge of the scoring procedures for a wide variety of neuropsychological measures.
-Create summary score sheets for each patient, detailing their performance by cognitive domain compared to the normative sample for each test.
-Help establish and maintain an appropriate testing environment.
-Enter scores and other data into a database as necessary.


 

Qualifications

Education Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience excel programming experience 0-1 year preferred working with neurological and/or psychiatric patients 0-1 year preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with other professional and administrative staff across multiple departments. - Obtain operant familiarity with practice procedures and policies regarding psychological assessment. - Good verbal, written and computer skills. - Excellent observational skills and the ability to record and convey those observations systematically and reliably through writing. - Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. - Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
