Job Summary:
Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) seek a Director of Operations and Engagement to join the Faculty Directors Gary King and Salil Vadhan in leading the OpenDP Project (https://opendp.org/). OpenDP is an international community effort to build trustworthy, open-source software tools for performing statistical analysis and training AI models on sensitive private data. These tools offer the rigorous protections of “differential privacy” for the individuals who may be represented in confidential data. Founded in 2019 by Professors Gary King and Salil Vadhan, OpenDP has a highly respected suite of software that is used by industry, government, and academia, and has a large and thriving community of practitioners and scholars who volunteer time to OpenDP’s efforts. A major goal for the coming years is to expand OpenDP’s connections to industry, leading to a long-term sustainability model for the project.
This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension.
Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Work Format Details
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
